A collection inspired by memories of my grandmother Suke’s house and her sharp personal style. The collection combines the traditional toile print that decorated her house with 50s and 60s-inspired styling. My grandmother was effortlessly elegant and never dressed her age. I aimed to capture her youthfulness and experimental fashion sense through fun prints, bold colors, sunglasses, headscarves, handbags, and heels. In the toile prints, I’ve included memories of my grandma from her stuffed animal monkey collection to her love of papillon dogs. While creating the collection, I imagined Suke as a young woman, and what she would be like today. This imagining fueled a lot of my experimentation and gave me the liberty to move beyond a 60s period piece collection.
